Amon Basin Wildlands Walk- May 14, 2011
This is the big one! Don’t miss it!
Saturday, May 14, 2011—Tours leave promptly at 9 a.m.
A guided interpretive hike through the wetlands and desert shrub-steppe of Amon Basin Community Preserve will be held on Saturday, May 14. The walk, which will last about 2 hours and cover about 1-1/2 miles, will be guided by members of Tapteal Greenway Association and Friends of Amon. The event will educate the public about the 100-acre existing preserve surrounding Amon Creek, focusing especially on progress on signs, benches, trails, kiosks, and native plant restoration. Bring water, binoculars, cmera. Wear sturdy shoes, bring your own water/snacks/sunscreen, and please leave your dogs at home.

Amon Basin Preserve Update
As warm weather begins, we hope you’ll enjoy looking for signs of spring in Amon Basin Preserve.
But also remember that Amon is off-limits to unauthorized motorized vehicles—ATVs, motorbikes, etc. We just called the police to report 5 motorbikes entering Amon at the southern entrance today by the Leslie railroad crossing. If you see any, please do the same. Call the non-emergency number at 628-0333—in fact, put it in your speed-dial.
Please also report anyone you see dumping yard clippings, garage cleanout, etc.
Finally, now is the time when native birds and animals begin to nest in Amon. Please be mindful to stay on the paths and control your dogs so that we can all enjoy this special time of year.
And mark your calendars for the annual Wildlands Walk at 9 am on May 14. Stay tuned for more info!
Thanks, Kathy 627-0950
